Elcomatic offer an advance exchange service that we call “Swap-IT”.  This service allows customers to get a next day replacement for their failed item without an engineer attending site.  This service is typically taken by one of our partners providing a simplified form of maintenance for their end user customers.  Additionally, it is also taken by larger end users who have a volume of sites and equipment to support but feel that they don’t need or want to engage an engineer to attend site and perform a swap for them.

The customer provides Elcomatic with advance spares stock and we hold this in our warehouse.  The amount of stock is related directly to the expected failure rates of devices and the known repair times of that kit.

The process is shown in the diagram below.

A courier will arrive at the door with the replacement part.  This is swapped with the failed item and then the courier takes the failed one away.  We reuse the packaging from the outbound part of the process for the return.  The user then installs the replacement.  Note that we can preconfigure items prior to Swap-IT and this will certainly appeal to some.  We then repair the failed unit and after soak testing it goes back into the rest of the advance exchange stock.

The main benefit of this service is that it allows a user to be up and running again the next day and avoids delays such as extended turnaround times, delays getting an engineer to attend site, etc.
